Hi,
my name is Basti - and a very warm welcome to my digital garden!
I am currently living in Dresden, Germany.
In my day-job I work as a Software Engineer. In the past ten years (since I finished my initial studies in business informatics) my main focus is developing Software for IoT (Internet of Things) related projects. To learn more about this part of me, check out the section below titled “Software Engineering”.
Since 2023 I am studying forestry in part-time, because I felt it was time to open a new chapter. If you want to know more about this part, check out the “Forestry Studies” section.
I have many hobbies. To learn more, go to the “Hobbies” section on this page.
I sometimes write articles in my blog. You can find that blog in the navigation bar on top. Up there you will also find the “Knowledge Base” section where I store some content I use in my day-job. Feel free to check it out. If you use RSS, you can get the RSS feed here.
If you are new here, I recommend reading about what I mean by saying this site is a “Digital Garden”, so you get the right idea what this website is - and is not.
Oh and finally, English is not my first language. But writing in it is a nice exercise and English reaches more people, which is why I like writing it. So, please excuse grammatical errors, I try to catch them all, but more often then not quite a few remain in my ramblings.
Cheers and have a great day,
Basti.
Since October 2023 I am studying Forestry at TU-Dresden. With this new chapter I want to combine my passion for software engineering with deep knowledge about the forest ecosystem. My long-term goal is to create solutions for (hopefully) important environmental topics in that area. As soon as I create first projects there, you will find some info about those here on this site!
Developing new software and maintaining and enhancing existing software is a big part of my day-to-day life (as it is my main job). In this section you can find out more about which technologies I am most familiar with and get an insight into the things I worked at up until now.
I love technology and IT, not only at work, but in my free time as well. In quite some years of work, these are the technologies and programming languages I am most familiar with. If it’s in the list, I am most likely able to help.
the basics
specific expertise
I play the clarinet and bass. In the past I participated in different bands, including ensambles with my clarinet or playing the bass at the big band of my former music school. I am currently playing clarinet at the SBO (Sinfonisches Blasorchester) at HSKD Dresden.
I even created some electronic music with FL Studio - mostly experimental, though. If you dare to listen, you can find some tracks on SoundCloud.
I currently have three aquariums. I keep different plants and fish in there. Maybe I will post some in the future :D
